Benjamin Cates

Reverend Benjamin Cates, son of Clifton and Flora Cates, was born January 13, 1936 in Leland, Mississippi. His family moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1949 where he attended Wendell Phillips High School, Washburn Tech and Moraine Valley Community College.

Reverend Benjamin Cates attended Greater New Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor James Allen Rodgers where he served in the Choir, Trustee Board and the Deacon Board.

Reverend Benjamin Cates receive his calling in 1974 into the Ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Greater New Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church and receive his License to Preach and Severe as a Minister by Pastor Rodgers on the 12th day of JUNE 1974 and was later Ordained on the 13th day August 1975.

On July 15, 1977 a meeting was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Toxey Hall. Present also was Rev. Benjamin Cates and Rev. Moses Kendall and Minster Barbra Power,  Rev.  Benjamin Cates was elected as Pastor and He named the church Outreach Missionary Baptist Church.

For approximately five months services was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Toxey Hall. The Lord Bless Outreach Missionary Baptist Church and they was able to purchase their on building at 1143-45 East 95th Street and on December 18, 1977 Pastor Benjamin Cates and Outreach Missionary Baptist Church held their first services.

As the Lord has Bless Rev. Benjamin Cates and Outreach Missionary Baptist Church to License and Ordained many Ministers and Deacons and work with various programs and offer classes  to the community and the doors are always open for Funerals, Wedding and meeting for the community.
